This week we
started our first week of immersion. This time we did the project and immersion method backwards and we
organised our projects first and now we are doing immersion. Which is
weird I've never done it
before but it doesn't seem to have any
affect on the process of projects. On
monday the 4th of
september we started our first session of immersion in the middle block (11:30-12:15) The teachers made up groups of people for each immersion and there were 6 groups and for this immersion we had to mix with kids from LC4 so we also had LC4 teachers teaching our immersion. I'm in group six and since group Jono and Amy were pretty much doing the same immersion we got put together for the day. For this
immersion we were looking at
designs for a playground because we are building a new playground on our school grounds next to our other playground. To get an idea of how a playground should
look we went to the public playground next to our school the Hobsonville Point Park. We had to take photos and notes of what we saw at that park that we liked to be in our new playground.
On Tuesday the 5th of September we started our second day of immersion. This time it was just group 6. We signed up with Tinkercad and had to go through all of the tutorials first before creating a 3D design so we knew what we were doing. We pretty much did that the whole
session but Jono was nice enough to let us go and get food because we were hungry. Each person had to
made a playground design for our new playground. I made the design of having in-ground trampolines next to our new playground. This immersion started at 9:30 am and ended at 11:00 am so we pretty much spent the whole time designing a piece of playground equipment for the new playground. While we were all designing Jono was printing out a fidget spinner on the 3D printer to give us an example of what the 3D printer can do. Because Jono was gonna pick some of the designs we made and print them out on the 3D printer.
On Thursday 7th of
September we had our last day of playground designing with Jono and we pretty much did the same thing as Tuesday. Except when we had finished our designs we got to create a blog post about the experience of our immersion that week. But I didn't get to because I had to leave for SPINS at 10:30 am which meant that I missed 30 minutes of my last immersion session. But this immersion was really good because I've never used Tinkercad before and I also got to work with a different teacher.
